Samia Announces Third LP, Bloodless, with hauntingly cathartic new single “Bovine Excision”

Have you ever heard of Aspen Grove? It’s a collection of 40,000 trees in the plains of North America, all connected by a single expansive root system. There is perhaps no stronger metaphor for the audience Samia has cultivated since she began releasing her music. Her songs, fans, and friends represent one enormous, interconnected ecosystem. 

Samia has just announced her upcoming third album, Bloodless, which is set to release April 25th via Grand Jury Records. Bloodless is the follow-up to 2023’s sophomore LP, Honey. On the new record, Samia presents a richly layered project that was made with longtime collaborators and co-producers Caleb Wright and Jake Luppen. Samia has just shared the first single off the upcoming LP, “Bovine Excision” which delivers the essence of the record in an emphatically cathartic form.

“Bovine Excision” finds Samia’s voice effortlessly flowing through evocative lyrics, drawing inspiration from unsolved mysteries – inexplicable cattle mutilations, the presence of God, the impossibility of femininity – Samia carefully and bravely examines how shadows can loom larger than their source. “I was drawn to the phenomenon of bloodless cattle mutilation as a metaphor for self-extraction – this clinical pursuit of emptiness,” Samia explains of the track.

“It’s easier to be what someone wants you to be if you give as little as possible,” says Samia. With Bloodless, she seeks comfort in absence, and explores the allure of existing as fantasy. “I noticed a pattern in my life of wanting to live up to the person I became in someone’s head; you become a lot bigger with distance.” 

Samia has also announced a string of in-store dates in Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, and London in celebration of her forthcoming album’s arrival.
